There are 3 factors in list building you need to consider:

Your Landing Page – The landing page is the page that has your opt-in form on it. This page is the one that asks them for their email. So, obviously it has to be well designed. And have an easy to understand opt-in form. And have a clear call to action.
The biggest mistake you can make is not having a clear call to action. This “close” tells your visitors what you want them to do. Without this your opt-in rate will plummet. The funny thing is that people just don’t know what to do unless you tell them.
If you want to add some extra juice to your opt-in page add a compelling video to the page. You only have a few second to get your visitors attention – video helps! Plus it give you a chance to tell them to opt in multiple times. And you can have the video just tell them to fill in your form after it’s done playing.
If you don’t know how to make video, don’t worry. It’s very easy to hire people for a couple hundred bucks to make one for you. There are also list building systems that include video squeeze pages.
Your Bribe – Next, you’ve got to figure out what your bribe is. People won’t give you their email for nothing. Nobody likes spam, so most people guard their email closely. So make your “bribe” a good one!
You have to provide value in your bribe for it to be good. That means you make it something people would actually want to receive. And something from which they can derive a benefit. For example:
- A free report
- Some useful software
- Videos
- An email series
It all boils down to content. And make it both helpful and informative. It goes without saying it must be free. If you make it good enough, they will give you their email in exchange.
Once again, don’t worry if you don’t know how to create the freebie. You can just pay someone else to make it for you. Simply tell them what the topic is and they can write the content. You can also get email list building tools that include the premium. There are two important things about the email series. First, it must provide value to your subscribers. Your Confirmation Page – Finally, you need to consider your opt-in confirmation page. After subscribing to your list, your visitor is redirected to this page. It’s nice to give them some great content right away. That way, they feel glad that they gave you their email address. It also sets the foundation for your relationship with them. So when they get your email, they’re happy to hear from you.
Again, a simple solution to this is to get an email marketing package that includes everything. Or you can do it yourself. You can either write the content pages on your own. Or pay a freelancer to write the content for you.
