Presell like a pro
If you want to make more money as an affiliate, you must presell.
Before we begin, we need to first define what preselling is. There are two components to it – art & science. The goal is to get your reader prepped to make a purchase. Then sending them to the product sales page to make the purchase. And if it’s done properly, the process is completely sub-conscious.
In a nutshell, you provide value. And give them a link to the product you’re preselling. We’ll get into how to do it correctly in a minute. Before we get into that, you should understand what’s in it for you. Some major benefits of this process:
- Preselling creates trust – Readers who trust you are more likely to click your links. And the more traffic you can send to the sale page, the more commissions you’ll earn.
- Preselling is disarming – When you’re preselling vs. pitching, you’re reader doesn’t feel the need to be guarded. This means they are more open to what you’re saying. And your intention is conveyed more easily.
- It creates buying readiness – Now they’re open to hearing what you’re telling them. And in turn, they’re open to other messages, as well. For example, the sales message on the page you’re linking to. Being open to a sales message is what it means being in a buying mood.
- It increases your sales – They arrive at the product website prepped to buy. Open to the sales message and feeling safe. The only thing that can result is increased sales!
- It boosts customer loyalty – People like to make their own buying decisions. Versus being pitched or convinced. So they are happier with their purchase.
- Your profits go up – Satisfied customers are less like to refund. Which means you keep more of your affiliate commissions.
Clearly preselling makes sense. You increase your profits. Your customers are happier. It’s a win-win-win!
How does it work?
You’ve learned the importance of preselling. And I hope you’re resolved to being preselling, too. You’re ready to learn how to do it properly. Like we talked about before, it’s an art. And it’s a science.
Part 1 – The art of it
Effective preselling requires gaining your readers trust in order for them to let down their guard. Honestly, the only way to do this is to provide real value in you content. The art of this is to provide enough information to be of value, but not enough to satiate the hunger. So you send them to the product website with a hunger for more of what the product provides. And because you’ve gained trust, they’re more receptive to the sales message and more likely to buy.
It’s also a science
You also have to include some very specific things.
One of these key elements is the presentation of the information. You have to have your end in mind. In the end, you want to sell a specific product. You use the information to do this in one of two ways. First, you can provide useful but incomplete information. The other method is to explain all the details and expose how difficult it is to do what you’re explaining. Whichever method, you send them to a product website that solves the problem you just created.
But you can’t link to your affiliate link. Instead you link directly to the product sales page. That’s because nobody likes to click on affiliate links. But how will you earn affiliate commissions if you don’t use your affiliate link? This is all part of the science of preselling. You “pre-cookie” your reader before sending them to the sales page.
Next, you want to make sure you’re linking on related words and phrases. Hyperlinked words are clicked more than anything else. And when the words are in context like this, it makes perfect sense for your reader to click them.
What you have now is a super powerful system for affiliate marketing success.
Unfortunately…
It’s extremely difficult to do this correctly. Let’s look at the skills required to pull it off: Awesome content. The entire process depends on your being able to provide useful information to your readers. To do that you have to have enough information to be valuable and be able to present it in a useful way. Writing to presell. Yes, you must providing useful content. But, you also need to know how to present the information in a way that give value to the reader. While at the same time making them want more. The other approach is to reveal a self-evident problem through the information.
Choosing your products. After that you have to figure out which products you want to promote. If you can manage to get the article written well. You’ve wasted all your effort if the product doesn’t sell well.
The technical know-how And finally, you need the technical know-how to embed your image tag and make sure you get credit for the sale. This is fairly simple – you use a 1 X 1 image and set the “source” to your affiliate link. (But if you mess it up, your referrals won’t be tracked.)
In closing:
Now you know exactly how to presell effectively. Using these techniques will increase your affiliate sales by 500% or more! The important thing is to use these techniques for everything you promote as an affiliate. Take action now. Make the extra effort required to propel your affiliate business to the next level.
